Subject:    Absentee Voting

Thursday, April 7, 2011, is the date of the LRCEA election for the Offices of President and Secretary, and for one Representative at each college, and at the district office.  In lieu of voting at the on-site voting location for your college or district office worksite, you may vote by absentee ballot subject to the following:

1.    How Do You Obtain an Absentee Ballot?

The absentee ballot will be posted on the LRCEA website (www.lrcea.org) not less than ten calendar days prior to April 7, 2011.  You must copy the absentee ballot from the LRCEA website for your use to vote.

2.    What Is On the Absentee Election Ballot?

The absentee ballot will include the name of each candidate for each Office, listed under the title of the Office he/she is seeking election to; you may only vote for one candidate listed under each Office title.  The absentee ballot also includes the name of each candidate for one Representative at each college, and at the district office; you may only vote for one candidate for the Representative that represents your college or district office worksite.

3.    How Do I Return My Absentee Ballot to LRCEA?

Once you have voted on the absentee ballot, place it in an envelope, seal that envelope, place your signature, your name printed, and your district worksite location (college or district office) printed on the back of that envelope, then do one of the following:

a.  Mail the envelope containing your absentee ballot to LRCEA, 701 Howe Avenue, Suite D-39, Sacramento, California 95825; you must put First Class U.S. Mail postage on the envelop, or

b.  Place the envelope containing your absentee ballot through the mail slot in the door at the LRCEA office, 701 Howe Avenue, Suite D-39, Sacramento, California 95825, or

c.  Place the envelope containing your absentee ballot into the LRCEA ballot box at a college or district office on-site voting location when it is open for voting on the date of the election.

In order for your absentee ballot to be counted it must be received by LRCEA before the ballots are counted April 7, 2011 - counting starts at 5:00 p.m.; the envelope containing your absentee ballot must have your name printed, your signature, and your district worksite location printed on the back of the envelope.  Do not return your absentee ballot to LRCEA using district inner-office mail - it won’t be delivered.
